Katryna-Florence has honed a unique sound that bridges the worlds of pop and jazz, influenced by legends like Etta James, Celine Dion, and Lauryn Hill, and inspired by modern icons such as Amy Winehouse, Adele, Raye, and Yebba. This Berklee College of Music graduate bares her soul through soothing vocals, timeless melodies, and clever yet heartfelt lyrics.
Before falling in love with jazz at the age of 17, Montreal-born artist Katryna spent her formative years studying classical piano, cello, and opera. She later graduated from University of Montreal with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance. Her talent didn’t go unnoticed as she was invited to join renowned French composer and saxophonist Pierre Bertrand's Big Band for the summer of 2022. She performed as part of Grammy Award-winning trumpeter Randy Brecker’s opening act and sung alongside some of the finest jazz musicians from Europe and Cuba, such as Orlando “Maraca” Valle, Joël Chausse, Steen Nikolaj Hansen, and Stéphane Chausse, to name a few.
After her time at BerkleeNYC, Katryna-Florence received a full scholarship by We Are Moving The Needle to attend the Los Angeles Academy for Artists and Music Production (LAAMP) in Santa Monica, CA, an institution founded by the acclaimed songwriting and production duo Stargate (Mikkel S. Eriksen and Tor E. Hermansen).
Katryna-Florence released her highly anticipated debut EP "What If I'm Too Much?" on April 25th 2025, a collection of songs she co-produced and co-wrote in Los Angeles over the past year. Each track captures a personal realization or a different facet of her identity, offering an unfiltered and deeply intimate listening experience.
